
Mrs. Gwen T.
Nwachukwu was appointed the Permanent Secretary of the
Nigeria Ministry of Mines and Steel Development in
February, 2007 after she had served as a seasoned
administrative officer in the country's Ministry of
Defense, Finance, Education and Aviation.
As a career
administrative and public officer, Mrs. Nwachukwu
oversees the day-to-day running of the ministry which is
responsible for the orderly development of Nigerian
mineral resources including the abundant gemstone
endowment.
She currently
presides over the Project Consultative Committee (PCC)
of the World Bank assisted Sustainable Management of
Mineral Resources Project (SMMRP) in Nigeria. An
intervention programme of the World Bank for the
Nigerian mining industry.
She was educated in
Nigeria, England, Italy and the United States of America.
Her hobbies include reading, traveling, and working for the
welfare of the underprivileged.
She is happily
married with four children.
