National Metallurgical Development Centre, Jos Gets A Substantive Director-General

The  President  of  the  Federal Republic of  Nigeria and  the  Commander-in-Chief of  the Armed Forces,  Dr. Goodluck Ebele  Jonathan  has  approved  the  appointment  of  Professor Ibrahim Abdullai Madugu  as  the substantive Director-General  of  the National Metallurgical Development Centre, Jos, Plateau state. 

 The  organisation  is  a  parastatal  under  the  Ministry  of  Mines  and  Steel Development.

Professor Madugu  is  an  Associate Professor  of  Metallurgical Engineering.  He  graduated  from   the  prestigious ST. Petersburg State Technical University  in  Russia  where  he  bagged  Masters of Engineering  in  Metallurgical  and Ph.D  in Industrial Engineering  with  bias  in  Metallurgical Engineering in  1984  and 1988  respectively.

The  new  Director- General  had  held  several  positions  in  the  academia: a former Head  of  Department, Metallurgical and Material Engineering, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He  was  one time   the Secretary and member  of  the  Interim Management Committee  of  Ajaoukuta Steel  Company Limited  and  the  National Iron Ore Mining Company, Itakpe  both  in  Kogi State and  the  Director  of  Metallurgical Inspectorate and Raw Materials Development  in  the  Ministry  of  Mines  and  Steel  Development, Abuja.

He  is  a  fellow  of  the  Nigerian  Metallurgical Society  and  belongs  to  several  professional  bodies.

He is happily married with children.
